These soft, pillowy buns come packed with smoky-sweet beef and just the right hit of tangy pickled onions-perfect as a starter or to share. Another must-try is their iconic Chicken Katsu Curry-crispy panko-coated chicken served with rich curry sauce over a bed of sticky rice. It's a fan favorite for good reason.

But if you want to venture beyond the classics, the Tantanmen Beef Brisket Ramen is a bowl of pure satisfaction. With slow-cooked brisket in a spicy, nutty broth, it delivers depth, heat, and hearty comfort. And for those who prefer something plant-based, the Vegan Chicken Ramen is surprisingly satisfying, offering meaty texture and umami richness without compromise.

The menu doesn't stop at noodles and rice. Wagamama Swansea's Chilli Squid is light, crispy, and seasoned to perfection-ideal for pairing with a cold beer. Their Duck Gyoza or Chicken and Caramelised Onion Koyo Bowl offer unexpected combinations that work remarkably well. Feeling like a fusion twist? The Chicken and Prawn Pad Thai and Yaki Udon bring Thai and Japanese flair together in delicious harmony.

Dessert lovers, don’t skip out early. The Smoked Chocolate Mousse Cake is rich with a subtle twist of smokiness, while the Chocolate Ice Cream hits the sweet spot after a spicy meal. Add a Mimosa or a steaming pot from their great tea selection, and you've got a satisfying end to the meal.

Another great perk? Wagamama Swansea caters to nearly every dietary preference. From vegan dishes to gluten-free options, they’ve crafted a menu that’s inclusive without sacrificing taste. Whether you're in for a quick bite, a late-night bite, or a relaxing meal with friends, you'll find something to love.

Wagamama consistently good wherever you dine with them. Swansea branch at the City Gates (at the end of Wind Street) is a wonderful place to stop and stare at all the folk entering the busiest nightlife area in Wales. The staff here are excellent, the food tasty and fresh. Would love a warm saké on the drinks list, and please bring back cherry wine - always a highlight on previous menus.

My other half and I visited this restaurant on our first date night after the birth of our first child. I called earlier in the week and asked if I could book a table, to which the waiter said they don't take bookings. We'd booked a movie at 7pm, and we walked in there at 5:45pm. We walked in and we were approached right away, seated and given menus. The menu had a decent amount of veggie and vegan options so there is something for everyone. The waitress came back within 5 or so minutes, and took a drink order and our meal order. My other half ordered the "kare burosu ramen" and I ordered the "tantanmen beef ramen". Since we've heard of "bao buns" but have never had them before, we decided to order them with our mains so we could try them together. The waitress said "We'll bring the food out, I'll give you a table number and when you're done, scan this QR code and pay with your phone when you're ready to leave." I think this system is really brilliant and it's something more restaurants should look at adopting. Our drinks were out in minutes with small glasses and ice. The restaurant was moderately full, with great ambiance and a really interesting seating layout. I loved the decor and feel in the place, different from most restaurants and that's why I liked it. After about 10 mins of us chatting, her food came out. Her meal is the one with chillis on top in the photo. It came out at 6:03pm (I only know because that's the time the photo was taken). She waited a minute or two to start eating while we waited for my food to come out too. I politely said "Nah, don't worry about my meal" so she tried her food. She thought it was a bit spicy but a good meal that she would order again next time we visited. We waited for my meal. Then we waited more. 10 mins went by, and I was starting to wonder if they had forgotten about me. Then a waitress came over and said "The chef says sorry your meal is taking a while, it should be out soon." I was getting anxious since we had a movie to get to for 7pm. At 6:19, about 15 mins later, a waitress showed up with my meal. I was not happy, but politely thanked her for bringing it, and asked if the Bao Buns were on the way. She said "Yes, of course." I started my meal, and it was great. Not worth the 15 mins of me watching my other half eating without me, but it was a great ramen meal, with tender beef and the right amount of spice. We waited another three minutes for the Bao Buns, meaning we waited for 19mins since the first meal came out to have a full table of food. Nowhere else would a wait this long be accepted. I was very disappointed with the wait, which makes me weary about returning. My partner had pretty much finished her meal as the Bao Buns arrived, but since I had to pretty much rush my meal, we got the nice moment of trying the Bao Buns together. They were very fluffy, I enjoyed them, but my other half said she could take them or leave them. Not sure if I'll go back. If I do, I'll make sure to make a point of asking if we can get both meals brought out together.
